Inspiration

Not right now, I'm trying to sleep. If I hear just one more word from that little boy, I swear, I'll kill him. I haven't been able to get 3 consecutive hours of sleep in the past 3 weeks. My body is beginning to feel like it's someone else's.

'Catch me if you can'

'Hehe'

'I'm over here'

'Arhhhhh'

These chants and laughter have been on repeat since 'the kids' got back from school. I have just 30 minutes left off my 'break time' and then Mrs. A would come get me. I just wished that she would take him somewhere else to play.

I thought kids were supposed to take naps every afternoon?

Who is the evil person that changed the law and who gave extra energy to children?

I just can't!

Just only if I could rest a little and then they could continue for all I care.

STEPHANIE!!!

Whew! Not again!

Can this woman not allow someone chill sef, I muttered under my breathe for fear that she would hear me.

STEPHANIE! Can't you hear me?

I'm on my way, mom!

Usually, I knew when it was time to give the kids a bath and make dinner but with all of the excesses and the stuff happening around me, I had lost touch of time.

Heavy breathing and high pitched screeches were the signal that I had stayed in the room for too long so I quickly wore my shorts and tank top and then slipped out.

My school was on strike again, extended holiday, as we called it, so I had been home for the last one month.

Other people are often like,

'Awwww, so you're spending some more time with your family.

Wow!

No place like home'

There's often the look on my face which expresses a mixture of disbelief and uneasiness because, I can't imagine that we all live this same life because staying home for anything more than one week is torture.

Katie, Jackson, it's time for a bath.

No, no, no, I still want to play.

Calm down Stephanie, close your eyes and count to five, take deep breathes baby girl, you can do this.

Yes, I need all of this pep talk so I don't eventually throw this kid across the fence.

With a see-through smile on my face, I manage to say, 'Okay hunnie, you can run across, just one more time and then you're going to have your bath.'

'Thanks Steph'.

It's 9pm, the kids are already fast asleep, for the first time in a long while, I am done with the chores this early. I even had extra time to watch my favourite telenovela. Just as I'm beginning to think about jumping into my pjays and sleeping, my perfect moment is interrupted by a knock on the door.

'Can I come in?'

Sure, yes

"Sweetheart, I know that this last couple of weeks have been hard on you but I just wanted to thank you for spending them with us. I have been having a tough time doing everything by myself since your dad left. Jack is finally beginning to talk since you've been around. I know that it seems like I do not want you to have time to yourself but that's not it darling. We just love having you around"

Gently, tears streamed down my face with no interruptions and I managed to mutter the words, 'I love you mom'

'I'll never leave you'

KAYDO's DIARY- two years, october..

Hey Lovelies!!!
Gosh!! I know that this post is quite overdue but forgive me, I've just had this post in draft for too long. smh
Kaydo's diary is a collection of rants, stories and basically the stuff that's been happening lately with me. I hope you enjoy it. *huge grin*

TWO YEARS BLOGGING

I'm excited. It's quite amazing to have been walking in my passion for the past two years. Sharing bits of my life, my struggles, my lessons and in the little ways that I can, inspire you.

This last year has been pretty good for me blog-wise. More views, interactions and stuff but it's gotten a little more tedious because I am building some other aspects of my life. I have considered quitting a couple of times but I can't because well, I love writing.

Anyways in all this last year has been a huge learning process for me and I am grateful for everyone I have connected with. Thank you for being part of my journey, my growth and all. I love and appreciate you.
I know that I haven't been so consistent this month, I am still trying to see how I can make it work. I should begin blogging at least once a week ~~from next month which starts tomorrow~~. Yay!

And umm on Facebook, I said I was open to questions because I wanted to get a lil more personal with you guys, I mean allow you know me a bit more. I will answer the one that was asked in a later post and if you have any, I am open to them.

OCTOBER

Whollup! Welcome to my month. I don't think I've ever been this excited about my birthday. Just the reality that I'm getting old. smh.
Inspired Hearts, the community to which I am part will be hosting it's second event and that's part of the things taking my attention. Let's say this is my personal invitation to you, so if you're in Lviv or somewhere nearby, you don't want to miss out on this.

Life Update

My Workout Routine

Hey lovelies! How's y'all doing? I know it's been over two weeks since I blogged, school work is sapping all of my time. From the title you know I'm about to share my workout routine and things I do to stay in shape.
Well, the thing is, if you know me in person and if you've seen any of my pictures, you know that I am a pretty 'fit' person, lol. I've been slim all my life so this is really just me joking around.
p.s I know that slim people workout too.

I've always wanted to have to workout and especially trim my tummy and get me some abs but I never really go past the first day, the maximum is two days. I one very lazy person and the truth is that if had the opportunity I would lay in bed all day.

New semester means new classes and 3rd year is about the time when you start going to the hospitals for your classes and all that stuff. One thing that I have never really grasped with my city is why the hospitals are so far apart, like for real it's just torture.

THE THING I CALL WORKOUT

Monday starts off with Pediatrics. I kinda like the class especially since I'm considering being a pediatrician. Apart from the 'amazing' doctor that I have teaching me, the trip to the class is all hilly. It's supposed to be one of those classes that gives you joy because it's just behind but all the climbing is just not a joking stuff.
By the time I am done, I'm probably sure that it would have been enough training for me to go mountain climbing. smh

My last class is 'not so far' from school so since we are trying to save some money, we walk down.
In general, I refer to Monday as my workout day. All of the walking and climbing is good enough cardio. I work my arms too or should I rather say my shoulder because it's a full day so my bag is always heavy.

Tuesday is a more chill day, nothing much happening here.

Wednesday is what I call the 'egbe-wager'. I have all four periods plus cell meeting immediately afterwards but umm I really wouldn't trade cell meeting for any sort of sleep. Being the 'smart' child that I am, I will most likely not attend two of the four classes because they are lectures. (If my dad reads this. Chai!)

Thursday and Friday are not as bad but the overall accumulation of all of the weeks, stress is enough workout for me.

In Summary, my cardio game is strong, walking up and down everyday. I work out my legs with all them climbing and my arms with all the bag carrying. I'm yet to find out how we'll include working out the tummy tho.

Quick tip;
Do you want to lose weight but you really never get to stick to your routine, register in a school, preferably a medical school and all of the stress will trim you down.
Side note: Not to be taken too seriously.

Wisdom Wednesday || African Time

Hi Lovelies!
If we're friends on Facebook, chances are you may have noticed that there was a period when I would post things on Wednesdays with the hashtag wisdom Wednesday. So, I decided, I would post something for you guys here every Wednesday. Some sort of wisdom nugget. I hope you enjoy this new series.

There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 MSG

Life is pretty much summed up in time. Time happens to us in the value of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years and so on. When we understand that when we waste our seconds, we are inadvertently wasting our life, we begin to treat time with a little more caution.
There is a time to be born and a time to die. We didn't choose when we wanted to be born and we also don't really choose when we want to die except maybe suicide.

The concept of African time is one that is popular. We have adopted it as a tradition and we even boast about it carrying it on our forehead like it is one great achievement. Within the expanse of time in which we live i.e. within the duration of our life, there are things that we hope to accomplish. Sometimes, these things are in great connect with other people so we set up meetings and appointments. As Africans, we may show up ~~minutes,~~ hours late. It is often a strange incident when we show up 'on time'.

What showing up late says about you:

It shows lack of RESPECT.

When you show up for a meeting with other people at a time you choose for yourself, it reflects that you have no respect for the other people. It exposes your 'i-don't-care' attitude towards them and their time.

It shows lack of DISCIPLINE.

Disciplined people are great achievers and they know that to achieve the most, you have to respect the limitation of time and work in the scheduled time frame. Your showing up at just any time shows that you really don't care about how much you achieve and that you have no discipline towards time.

How to curb the habit:

Like every other habit, the latecomer has to first make up their mind to quit late coming. You may want to get an accountability partner, especially if it's very bad. However, these are some tips to help curb the habit.

Make it your priority to be there on time.
Start preparing early enough. You can't claim to have started preparing early, if you start preparing 30 minutes before but you know that your routine takes at least 45 minutes.
Leave early and include time for traffic.
Be time disciplined. Cultivate the habit of working with a time schedule. When you begin to invest your time properly in your day to day activities, you would understand the importance of showing up early to appointments and then you would not allow anyone misuse the time you have available.
