Signs and Symbols

It was 2 am and as usual, I was asleep but that was right up till something felt different. There was a wind just in my room and the wind seemed to have a voice, it was talking to me.
I could clearly hear it speak to me and I was sure beyond a shadow of doubt that it was God confirming His word to me.

I just made that up but I'm pretty sure that we all want our walk with God to be real dramatic. We love the signs so much that well, if we're honest with ourselves, we'll admit that we get jealous of the Israelites. I mean its just a little jealousy. What am I saying? Christians are not allowed to be jealous so we use words like, 'I desire the kind of walk they had with God. We want the fire, the wind, the earthquake, the thunder, the lightning, and when the enemy is not letting us go, He could just kill their firstborn son.

The truth is that there is really nothing wrong with signs or symbols, even Jesus said "...There will be BIG signs in the sky." Luke 21:11
However, one thing that is essential for our walk with God is FAITH. Faith according to Hebrews 11:1 is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Yeah evidence of things not seen. We, too often, want to see things with our physical eyes, sense with our human senses and you know just be VEERRY sure that it's God. Hmmm!
But we often let go of the truth that without faith, it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God.



In the christian walk, there'll be times that God will give us specific instructions and sometimes, there'll not be the very big signs that we expect God to put up. Well then how do I know that it's God leading??


  • Is it in line with scriptures?
God is never an author of confusion and He isn't one to contradict Himself. if He spoke it to your heart, there'll be a backing in the written word. God will work the principles that He has written down. But it is also important that we're not reading the word out of context.

  • Do you have peace?
 Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].
Colossians 3:15
  • Maybe you should talk with someone.
 Here it is important that you are cautious about who you are talking to because sometimes people will diss the word of God. So be sure that whoever you are talking to has a relationship with God.


Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.                                                                                                                                           Philippians 4:8 NIV
