Have you ever looked into the face of a new born? You can literary see the peace and comfort in their eyes. For them, there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. All they need is readily provided for them. As we grow older, that total peace seem to slowly diminish. Responsibilities begin to appear on all sides, the need to be better shows up and if we don't keep ourselves in check, we would realize that we begin to live everyday in worry.


What exactly is worry?

To worry is to feel or cause to feel anxious or troubled about actual or potential problems. Life honestly, can present itself to be very difficult. As we grow older, there an increase in the quantity and quality of things we are supposed to deal with and sometimes these things overwhelm us. Some of these things, we can handle, some others we can't. When we are faced with things that we can barely handle, one of the first human responses is worry and fear. The truth is that, worry never solves any problem. Like it has been often said, worry is like rocking a wooden horse, it keeps you busy, takes your time and energy but it doesn't take you anywhere.
One of the reasons why worrying is an issue is that it takes over control of you. It deprives you of control over your mind. Worry has its way of stealing your joy and peace and those have really been worried knows that it steals your sleep.



How can I overcome worry?

When you have so many issues to deal with, after a while, you may notice that you begin to give yourself excuses to worry. You may feel like you don't have an option but, that is really not the truth. You do have a choice, you don't have to live a life of constant worrying.
Overcoming worry is can be seemingly difficult because to a large extent, worry can become a habit and breaking habits can be really difficult. These steps below could help you overcome worry.

  1. Make a decision to stop worrying.
  2. Plan ahead of time.
  3. Understand that things may not always go as planned.
  4. Rest in God. 
1 Peter 5:7 CEV
"God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him"

You should give yourself time to come out of worrying. It may take quite a while but if you keep working at it, you'll live a worry free life!
