Damaged Goods

12:54

Damaged goods: Products that have are broken, cracked or scratched.
Usually people don't go shopping for things that are broken or out of shape. In fact, when you buy something and discover that it isn't in the right shape, you return; when possible. It breaks my heart and I shed a little tear when I buy a pack of ice-cream; after careful selection and discover that it is squashed at the bottom. Okay, not really, it just makes me a little sad, lol!

The society has it's way of putting labels on people. From pretty to ugly and worthy to bad. It's so bad sometimes that no one remembers your name. They keep referring to you with your label. The lame man at the beautiful gate, the woman with the issue of blood, blind Bartimaeus, the 10 lepers; these names remind you of stories (if you've read the bible or attended church). They were known by what happened to them, their story.

Damaged goods: A person who is considered to be no longer desirable or valuable because of something that has happened.
Maybe you have a story and your story right up till now doesn't seem like it's heading in a good direction and it's possible that no one wants to hang around you because you are not really the kind of person to be reckoned with. Maybe you have been constantly used as a bad example for others or you've been told severally that you'll amount to nothing and that you're 'good for nothing'. Maybe you've been told that you are DAMAGED GOODS.
Okay, maybe you've taken a step further and believed it and you practically pushed people away from you because you just can't stand being around people because of who you think you are. Hmmm! Well then let's talk.

When a product is damaged, you return it to the manufacturer. The manufacturer has the parts required to repair the product. So lets assume that for real you're broken and that you're damaged. There's only so much man can do to repair you. They can correct the outside, restore a broken arm, fix a damaged face but no matter how hard man tries, fixing a broken soul and spirit is just out of his league.
It doesn't matter what your story is, it may be a little different from the ones I mentioned earlier but one thing is sure, when life happens to you and when you make mistakes, it affects your soul. It cuts so deep that it's often very difficult too recover from.
It's no wonder that you may have withdrawn and hidden under the blankets of your past and your errors.

David was quite a cool guy. He grew up in his parents home where he was taught and trained. He learnt how to work and he was pretty good at it. He was a teenage shepherd. Fast forward, he kills Goliath. Fast forward again, he's king. Quite the life huh!
One of those days as he was chilling, enjoying the luxury of being king, he climbed to the roof of his house while his soldiers were fighting. He looked around from above and saw a pretty lady having a bath and he was drawn to her and he not only commits adultery with her, he kills her husband to cover it up. His life spiraled out of the cool league.
The amazing part of David's story is that God forgives him and restores him and blesses him such that Jesus had to be born from His lineage.

Now this is not to say that if you story is clean, you should make deliberate errors but that though you may be damaged at the moment but it's not the end of your story.
After man fell, he was too damaged to come into the presence of God but that's why Jesus came; to restore life.
God made you and although you may have been labelled as damaged or useless, He doesn't see you that way.

1Peter 2: 9

"But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted."

You have been chosen by God and He is the One that is able to transform you from the inside out, He is the one that is able to repair your brokenness and restore to His original purpose.
People may have thought that you'll amount to  nothing but God calls you SPECIAL even just as you are. And yes He has a plan for you life, all you need do is surrender to Him and allow Him work on you.

If you don't mind, let's pray:
Dear God, thank you for the lives of all the broken people and God we thank you because we know that you have a plan for us and that you are able to repair our damaged portions and make us whole again. God we surrender to You and ask that you work in us and bring us to the place that you desire for us.
Amen

You're not a mistake!
You may have been damaged by God is a restorer!!
