Do it AFRAID!

Hooked up on good? Choose better

Gwen and I have been friends since forever! Errrrrm not really, but we've been friends for about 3 years. The truth is that she's been there for me through thick and thin. We've had lots of fun times together and I've had to help her out a couple of times when she had issues with other people.

Late last year, I made a new friend, her name is Jemima. I kinda feel like I only make female friends but seriously who cares! (*whispering* because I really don't). Jem is amazing. We have a lot in common. She even likes purple!

I started spending quite a lot of time with her, so much that I totally forgot about Gwen. Anyways, after a while I noticed that thing I had with Jem was almost an addiction. I really couldn't go a day without talking to her and I practically spent every second of my waking with her. Even when I was supposed to be studying, I found myself with her instead.

This had gone on for quite a while but I really just noticed it. I decided that I would have to consciously do the right thing at the right time. I am fully aware that spending time with her isn't wrong, but the problem is that she was beginning to get in the way of a lot of things in my life.

Hey! By the way, Gwen and Jem are my phones. Yea, I name my phones. And yes, I kinda felt like I was getting too addicted to my phone and I decided to spend some less time with her, ummm it.

One thing that is sure in life is that different times and stages, we would often have to make choices. Sometimes it going to be as easy as choosing between good and bad, some other times it wouldn't be. There'll be times where we would have to choose between two things that are seemingly good. At such times, we'll have to be careful to pick out that which is better.

Good stuff can be really attractive. It can be all dressed up that you get hooked up on it. Sometimes you could get really hooked up on the good that it blurs your vision. We have to be really careful that the good doesn't get in the way of the better.

My phones are really valuable to me. I think they are like my number company but because I want something more, I'm willing to let go of them to an extent.

What do you want achieve? What are goals have you set? What's standing in the way? Identify the good that's standing in the way of your better!

Be better!

I believe in YOU!!

Deliberate

..the PURSUIT of a dream

Hi there, it's been quite a while and I apologize. School hasn't given me so much of an option.

I was analyzing myself some time ago and I realized that I had so many dreams, goals. There are quite a number of things that I want to achieve. They are either in my head or written somewhere. Today, I want to share with you some life lessons that I have learnt in the pursuit of my dreams.

You have to pursue your dreams.

One thing that I've realized is that, it's very easy and relaxing to dream or imagine. Everybody, ummm or maybe I should say I love that feeling that dreaming brings because of course, my dreams are beautiful. I don't know if anyone ever creates unhappy, scary dreams. Anyways, those warm feelings that dreams bring don't ever last forever. You have to deliberately go past the warm and fussy feelings and actually pursue your dreams.

I use word pursue because sometimes, it seems like your dreams are so afar off, some other times it may seem like your dreams are running away from you. But you don't have to give to give either of those as reasons to quit your dreams, just let the passion of your dreams drive you and pursue hard after it.

Hold on to hope.

"Though rough may seem the way,

Our hopes must surely stay.

Holding it high will help you see,

The silver lining in every cloud"

This was one of the very first poems I wrote and I haven't forgotten it in years. Pursuing my dreams hasn't always been easy. There have been times that the way was pretty rough but hope is one thing that has brought me through.

In pursuing dreams, you must know that it's not always going to be easy, the road isn't always going to be smooth. So, just make up your mind that no matter what happens in life, you're going to keep your eyes on the goal, you're going to keep your hopes up.

Keep your eyes on the goal.

With time, I have come to realize that even as I pursue my dreams, a lot of other things crave for my attention, a lot of distractions arise. It has to take a conscious effort to keep focused on the dream, the goal. If we are not focused, we'll find out that after a while we may even forget what the original dream was because we have been distracted for so long.

Finally, in the words of Yolanda Adams,

"Keep the dream alive don't let it die. If something deep inside keeps inspiring you to try, don't stop. And never give up, don't ever give on you!"

God

Self Love

A couple of days ago, I posted a picture on Facebook with this caption, "I've grown so deeply in love with myself. I understand that I am not perfect YET! So with all my flaws, I Love Me!" I got a couple of replies too this because this wasn't the first time I was talking about loving myself. Someone asked me why do you love yourself so much?

I've been through quite a handful. I wouldn't call it a lot but I've had experiences. I would say that a couple of years ago, I could not honestly say that I loved myself. I honestly did hate me. I didn't like my height, or my legs. I didn't like the fact that my voice was tiny, I wanted a much deeper voice. I didn't like how slow my hair was growing. This is but a little of the stuff that I didn't like about me.

In December 2011, I had a love encounter that changed my view about me. My love relationship with the Holy spirit grew. He showed that my flaws and 'imperfections' didn't make me less valuable or less important. This is because, the major reason why I didn't like myself was because I felt like I was less important. In my journey of love, I have learnt that the so called imperfections are a part of His divine plan for my life.

So, when I say that I have grown so deeply in love with me, it's not because I have chosen to be self centered. It is but a honest declaration. I know that I may not be perfected in the lifestyle of love but one thing that I have learnt over the while is that it is difficult to honestly love someone when you have not loved yourself. Your love for someone else can only flow from within you.

I understand that we may not all love ourselves with the same degree or ability. Some people may not love any bit of themselves and others may be having quite a struggle accepting a certain part of themselves. If you wouldn't mind, let me introduce you the love that changed my perspective about me. I accepted the love of God into my life and His love changed me!

So, like I replied to that conversation, I love me because God loves me so much even when I don't deserve it. So, it's now in my nature, it overflows from within

I Love Me!!

I Love You!!
